How to be an epic failure in three days: Set New Year Resolutions.

Why? Why must there be New Year Resolutions? We all know they are doomed for failure....
Now, I'm not putting down anyone that is working to better themselves in the New Year. Shit, we all have room for improvement. But, EVERYONE knows that New Year Resolutions are just the cheap way out of not following through for something. I don't know ONE person that makes a resolution and on December 31st of that same year can say "I stuck to my resolution!" If YOU have, well then major props to you. The odds must have been in your favor. Hunger Games is waiting for you. But NORMAL people just don't stick to these. My whole FB newsfeed is filled with the New Year, New Me posts. Whether it be to hit the gym, stick to a diet, quit drinking, be more patient with your kids or whatever, why does it have to be a New Year Resolution? I am starting my new clean eating diet tomorrow, but it's not a resolution. I know damn well there will be days of failure. Scott and I enjoy food too much to know we won't crack some days. I also know our goal of eating sushi once a month is going to be tough (this is to save money), we eat sushi 2-3 times A WEEK!

Honestly. No one does. Sure, maybe making them makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe you truly believe in your heart that you're going to make these ones "count". It's kind of like when November rolls around, my FB news feed for the first week is flooded with "Why I am thankful..." which is suppose to carry on every day of the month, by the second week either no one has anything to be thankful for anymore or the novelty of the task wore off. Same goes for New Year Resolutions. The first day they are made, and the two days after that everyone is going strong. Buuuuuut day three rolls around and the energy has dissipated. No longer are people sharing the success of their resolution.
Here's the thing. I'm not knocking anyone in any way for making a New Year Resolution. Everyone knows I'm all about helping others. That's what my life is all about these days. Helping others and being successful in all that I do. My point with this post is New Year Resolutions are bullshit. As soon as you categorize your goals with a New Year Resolution you are setting yourself up for an epic fail. In the back of your mind you're already thinking "These never work! No one sticks to these! Oh well, it's fun to make them up!" Stop sitting around hoping and dreaming that this year will be better than the last. Don't make dead end resolutions. Today for me is just another day. It means remembering to write 2015 instead of 2014. It means I'm getting another year older and I will have an official teenager this year. But I'm way ahead of the "New Year, New Me" game. I'm working on a better me everyday. Scott and I have been planning our apparel launch for months, and its going to start our 2015 off with a bang. I will be on stage, competing in 2015, but that's been in the works for awhile. I will become a certified trainer. Scott will launch his podcast. Around all that will be tanning my clients, kids sports and a Disneyland vacation. So many things planned for 2015, but not one resolution necessary. I'm not dreaming for a better life, I'm making it. Every. Single. Day.
So, if you set some New Year Resolutions, my suggestion to you is, throw them out right now. Don't go into 2015 with the weight on your shoulders thinking "I must stick to this or I will be a failure". Go into 2015 with the weight on your shoulders thinking "I'm going to squat the shit out of this year!" Each day is a day to better yourself, but each day may have its challenges. If there weren't challenges, life would be boring. You'd never learn anything. Get out of your comfort zone. Once you do, you'll be glad you did.  Now, go do 2015 right. You can thank me later.....
