Hair is done. Makeup is done. Off to the gym I go.

Yes, that is me. Every. Single. Day. I am sure when I walk into the gym I am judged. "Oh she's probably going to get on a cardio machine and barely move while she plays on her phone." "Hahaha! I bet she won't even lift a five pound weight in fear of breaking a nail!" "I bet she doesn't even break a sweat." "Bitch." This is the world we live in, so quick to judge. I recently posted a picture on Facebook and Instagram of me doing a deadlift. I was SO stoked on the progress I've made on my deadlifts that I had to share. Here, let me just share it again!
I am STILL proud of this pic of my progress! But let me tell you, when I posted it I KNEW there would be a comment or two about my hair being down and obviously slightly curled. Sure enough, there were a couple comments made. They were from people I know, nothing mean, just stating "You're not suppose to look like that when you're at the gym." I totally called that one. Here's the thing, not that I owe anyone an explanation, but that was the start of our workout and by the end of it, I was sweaty, hair was up and face was red. Is THAT how I'm suppose to look at the gym? It's not like I did one deadlift and said "whew! Amazing workout!" When I go to the gym I go to do work. But before I go to the gym I like to clean up. Yes, this includes fixing my hair and putting makeup on. I don't have all the cute leggings that are popular these days, but I like to proudly sport my Flag nor Fail, Live Fit, Fabletics and always Under Armour gear. Eventually Prove It Apparel will be in that list.
Why is having makeup on and your hair not looking like you just woke up SO bad? I am going to the gym because it makes me feel better about myself. Know what else makes me feel better about myself? Yes! You're catching on! Having my makeup and hair done! I've always been this way. I was under the weather all last week, but that didn't stop me from "primping". It made me feel better and less haggard. I feel more confident when I walk out of the house this way. Being spray tanned is also quite the confidence booster, which in fact I'm over due for! I'm so busy tanning my clients that I forget to squeeze mine in there. #spraytanproblems
You bet your ass I will and I DO every time. Whether it was guys or girls that were pre-judging me, they can clearly see I am no priss. I have a goal and it's to kill my workout harder than the day before. So, for any of you ladies out there that worry about "looking too cute" to go workout and being mad dogged, stop caring what others think. You're in this for YOU! Not THEM! If putting on some cute printed leggings make you feel good when you leave the house, do it! If putting on some makeup before you kill legs makes you feel even more beasty, got for it! If you're having a good hair day and want to leave it down for your workout, then swish that hair girl!! If you feel more confident all natural, then that's sexy also. There is no RIGHT way to look at the gym. But don't let those people that are judging be right. Don't sit around looking pretty taking up a machine and don't spend more time laying around "stretching" while chatting with your friend. Get up and kick ass. Show everyone that you're there for the same reason as them. To better yourself, not just physically but mentally also. Working out can be the best therapy in any situation.
So, before you talk smack about someone walking into the gym looking like "Barbie" give them a few minutes. You may be humbled when they lift more than you!!
