Body building vs Crossfit vs Image. Get over it.

It's been just a couple of weeks since my last blog but it feels like it's been a month! Every night for the past week after the kids go to bed and I have FINALLY been able to sit down with Scott after a busy day of work, tanning, working out and kid stuff I totally lose my motivation to blog. I find myself catching up on social media and playing solitaire on my phone. I knew I never should have downloaded that damn app. Anyway, here I am. It's been a bit stressful these past couple weeks. My mom has had some health issues, we left Cruz for the first time over night and my tanning calendar has been over booked. We've managed to get our workouts in and the kids have been fed and bathed, so all is good!! Haha!

Yup, you saw that right! Up close and personal with none other than the awesome as f*ck Baileys!! This is why we left Cruz overnight with his Glammie for the first time. We attended the LA Fit Expo at the Convention Center. It was bad ass!!! We spent four hours in line to meet them and some of the other FNF crew, and it was worth it. If you have a passion and you are inspired by someone, you understand where I am coming from. Others probably think we are nuts and what a waste of time. They were just as chill in person as they are on their YouTube videos. Talk about being more motivated then ever! After that was done we spent the rest of the time checking out all the vendor booths, talking with others in the industry, watching bits and pieces of different competitions and of course, taking advantage of some of the amazing deals and free stuff!!
What I found really awesome was the fact that bodybuilders, crossfitters, fitness competitors, Olympic lifters, martial artist, yoga instructors, dance instructors and just about any type of person in the fitness industry were all under one roof and we were all there for the same reason. We share a passion for being fit and living a healthy lifestyle. Maybe there was a small percent there for other reasons, but a majority was there for the right reasons. There may have been some big egos cruising around, but there was no smack talk from what I saw and heard. No "Bodybuilding vs Crossfit" bullshit. Honestly, I don't understand that at all. I love and respect both. Sure, Scott and I primarily do more ""bodybuilding" type workouts and focus on a different muscle group each day, but some days when we are on a time crunch, Scott will look up a WOD and we will bust it out. I respect both and enjoy both and still plan to take advantage of a free trial at our local Crossfit box (Atascadero Crossfit) to see if it is something I would like to be a part of, but for now I'm getting all I need to done at my home gym, Give Fitness. Why can't we all just get along in the world of lifting? Why such the hate and negative talk towards one another? At the expo it felt like there was no hate, but at least for the day just respect for all the different groups that attended.

Ya. Negativity is lame. Ain't no one got time for that. That leads me to another subject. Image. What is YOUR gym image? Do you try to be discreet and unnoticed? Do you make it known that you have arrived? Are you the social butterfly that everyone knows? Are you the badass? The obnoxious grunter? The one that talks on your phone and has a full conversation on the floor? The one that checks in at the gym while sitting on a weight bench that is just taking up space? The one that acts like they own the joint and doesn't re-rack their weights or wipe down their equipment when they're done? Oh wait.....I think I drifted off the subject of image and rolled right into peeves....huh. I guess when you work at a gym and take pride in your work place, you notice things a bit differently. Take notes fellow gym goers! No one wants to re-rack your weights! It does not impress us that you can max out the weight on the leg press, so there is no need to leave all the weights on there for someone else to put away. Not everyone can lift the same weight as you and it can be heavy. Yes, I was that person before and so I was unable to use something because I was unable to remove the weights. Damn, I really have come a long way! Ok....so there ya go. a couple little pet peeves I have at the gym haha
Let's get back to image. Although Scott and I are slightly obsessed with Rob and Dana Bailey, we are not trying to BE Rob and Dana. They motivate us. They inspire us. They have taught us a thing or two about our workouts as well as being successful entrepreneurs. You know what they taught us? Be yourself and be honest! Live an honest life. Don't try to be someone you're not and don't give a f*ck about what others think. So many people lose sight of who they really are and put on a fake image. They try to be just like the person they idolize. From their mannerism to their looks to the way they carry themselves. Scott and I want people to follow us, to like us and look up to us for who we are. For being the passionate, dysfunctional, goofy, sarcastic and brutally honest people that we are. People can see right through fake.

I posted this pic on Instagram the other day. It's my new snapback that I picked up at the Barbell Brigade booth at the Expo. To be honest, I actually wasn't sure about posting the pic. For a minute I cared about what others might think. Not so much people that don't know me, but more about people that DO know me. And not the people that have known me all my life, but the ones that have just gotten to know me in the recent months or so. Although these days I live in workout apparel, Under Armour shoes and FNF hoodies, I've always had different styles. From bandanas in my hair and chucks on my feet, heels and girly tanks, Uggs and sweaters, maxi skirts, snapbacks and more chucks....if there is a style a like, I will rock it. Same goes for my "gym image". Tall socks, backwards hats, thick headbands, hoods on, booty shorts, capri pants, Under Armour, FNF, Live Fit and now Barbell Brigade and soon, Prv.It is all I wear. If I like it and feel comfortable in it, I'll wear it. I'm not trying to be like anyone. I'm just Jamie. Tone it. Tan it. Lash it. It's what I do. It's what I love. Like me or not.

My next blog I will catch ya'll up on my competition status! In the meantime here are some fun pics Scott took today after our arm workout! Making progress, getting stronger! All while having fun and working towards our goals so we can kill them and make more. Never settle. Never give up. Prove your worth.

We are a walking advertisement for Under Armour, Live Fit and FNF everyday.....haha
